The purple flowers in the photo below are lupine, which Karner Blue Butterflies (KBB) rely on. Our role is to monitor the lupine areas across our service territory for Karner Blues. We conduct four surveys for the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources annually. If Karner Blues are present, we note of their location in our mapping system to make our crews aware to avoid those areas during breeding seasons, which occurs in the summer months.
